Talented Friends

I have lots of talented friends. My mate Noorin has started her own fashion label, Outsider, and well, it's pretty cool. Great fabrics, silhouettes, tailoring... and ethical to boot. I've got my eye on the Circle Dress- mate's rates Noorin?

Moustache Mugs

By Peter Ibruegger, seen @ 100% Design. Couldn't photograph them so have 'borrowed' images from Designboom. I love mugs, all of them. Simple is best, and these are genius (although, a friend of mine did suggest that you could just buy a plain mug and a black marker pen.... hmmm...) When I get this dream house and kitchen, there won't be any matching mugs in sight. Ohhh no.

The Dressing Room - Cheshire Street

Whilst wandering around Cheshire Street working up the courage to ask people if I could photograph them, I was asked if I could take some photos of this recently opened vintage store. What a treat! Actually being allowed to openly take photos of a shop rather than sneaking them for my work/ University course etc (yes, I do it, so does everybody else). I was in a bit of a rush but here they are. The Dressing Room is exactly what it claims to be. A really lovely little shop, much cheaper and much less overwhelming and chaotic than some of the bigger vintage stores nearby. And nice staff too.

Street Style - Brick Lane & Around

I did it! I actually asked strangers if I could take their picture! And they said yes! (Thanks guys). Unfortunately, I still find asking terribly nerve-wracking, ridiculous considering I've photographed people all over the world. Consequently, I'm missing out on hundreds of potential street style shots. But, it's a start.

Love Leon

Not only am I completely in love with Leon's food (in particular the meatballs, shredded pork wrap, lemon cake, wholefood salad... err... actually, just all of it), I adore the artwork. Ahhhh, Leon.

Nana B's House

My Nan has lived in the same house in Liverpool since the 50s, and decoration-wise it still remains pretty much the same! Last time I was there I went round trying to capture it all on camera, it's a complete time-warp but in its own way very charming and comforting. Especially now it has central heating.

Street Style - Chalk Farm

Thanks to Becca and Laura for being my first victims. Lets see if I can actually pluck up the courage to ask strangers now...

Becca's skirt is actually an old t-shirt. Brilliant.

Roberts' Radio

Love this old radio that belongs to relatives I'm staying with at the moment. They happen to be called Roberts. So no, it's not a Roberts radio, it just belongs to the Roberts family. Confused? I am.

My Red and Cream Dream

I have always had a very clear image of how my dream house will look, in particular, the kitchen. For a long time I have been collecting little things from here and there, to put in this dream house. I came across a new shop in my home town Hereford today which sells 'vintage' (I hate this word, but it describes it best) homewares, and basically bought everything in there. It all seemed so cheap, especially when compared to London prices for this sort of stuff. And a red and cream theme emerged! Now I just need a house.

I do wonder whether my buying frenzy was actually triggered not by the products, but by the beautiful hand-printed price-tags, tied on with ribbons, making everything look so appealing. A brilliant marketing strategy.

One Last Thing About Eggs

Ok, I realise we're heading for 'fashion, photgraphy, graphics, eggs' here, but just this one last thing. Actually it's really more about bread anyway. I saw this on Dezeen, it's a workshop that Hector Sérrano Studio did for design graduates at a University in Valencia. It's all about creating designs from social interactions. There's a couple of gems on there, I particularly like this egg-cup idea.

Talking of Eggs...

This logo which Thoughtful have created for a courier service Egg-n-Spoon is spot on. Keep looking; it's not what it first seems...

Scrambled or Fried?

Just for the record... I like mine boiled. With soilders. But! I only ever eat the yellow. I don't like the white, unless it's scrambled. Then I don't mind.

The Name Game

Wow. My first post.

I guess the most exciting part of starting a blog is thinking of a name. After brainstorming everything I could think of relating to what this blog will be about (I'll come to that later), three random words popped into my head, from nowhere; egg and spoon. Nothing to do with anything, unpretentious, completely random. Because basically, more than anything, this is a place for me to document my random thoughts and things I like. Now I know I've described this blog as 'fashion, photography, graphics, other'. It'll probably mainly be 'other'. And I might end up removing the description altogether.
